??????????The 2013 Marygrove College Wellness Fair was a great success under the direction of Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine & Wellness, William Pugh. The annual event featured free health screenings, HIV/AIDS testing, free massages, multiple vendor displays, and a series of skits performed by Professor Kalimah Johnson’s IS 326C HIV-AIDS class.

Professor Johnson’s class also performed short stories related to their course matter for those in attendance and played a myths & facts games regarding HIV/AIDS awareness.

The free health screenings offered blood pressure checks and sickle cell testing for the campus community. The Michigan Department of Community Health, Division of Health, Wellness and Disease Control, administered HIV/AIDS testing, and offered a STD test.

In total, well over 100 members of the Marygrove community (faculty, staff, and students) engaged in the variety of offerings throughout the course of the four-hour event held on Wednesday, March 20. The participation set record numbers for the annual event put on by [William] Pugh.

The Gift of Life was in attendance and received 30 signatures from members of the community willing to donate organs.

“The Wellness Fair was a great success this year,” said Pugh. “Our community came out in full force and treated themselves to one or more of the vital offerings. We’re proud of the turnout for the Wellness Fair and we thank the community for their support.”

Like every year, the Wellness Fair featured a raffle in which participants could be rewarded for their attendance. Winners of the 2013 Wellness Fair Raffle were: Diamond Cash (student), Darius Knox (student), Sholanda Presbery (student), and Ruby Williams (staff). Congratulations to this year’s winners!
